Public Money. Public Records.

Statewide Files follows public money and puts the paperwork on screen.

Every episode is built from primary sources: grand jury reports, state audits, settlement agreements, court filings, inspector general findings and legislative hearings. We read the document, highlight the line that matters, and say where it came from. When officials answer, we play their answer in their own words.

Our standards

We don't do opinion and we don't decide guilt. An accusation is called an accusation. Anyone who has not been convicted is said to be exactly that. Where the record is incomplete, we say so.

The beat

The beat is the whole state: the Legislature, the Governor's office, state agencies, county commissions and city halls. Cases don't end with one video. We follow them through hearings, elections and verdicts.
