California Hospice Couple INDICTED As FBI EXPOSES $15M Medicare Scam Run While Out On Bail

5.8K views

A hospice owner already banned from Medicare was convicted of a $10.6 million fraud. Federal prosecutors now say that while she was out on bond waiting for that trial, she opened three more hospices in Glendale, California, put them in her husband's name, and billed Medicare another $4.8 million.

Nita Palma, 76, is serving 9 years in federal prison for her first hospice scheme. In April 2026, her husband Adolfo Catbagan was arrested in the Justice Department's "Operation Never Say Die" health care fraud takedown, and both were indicted on 11 counts.

Presumption of innocence

Both are charged in the new case and are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
