Ex-Mayor’s Chief of Staff ARRESTED By FBI Over $120K Migrant Hotel Bribe & Backdated Loan Cover-Up
City workers turned the hotel down more than once. Then a text went to the most powerful aide in New York City Hall: “Thank you my big guy.” Soon after, an email told staff the hotel came “directly from the top.”
Federal prosecutors say Frank Carone, former chief of staff to Mayor Eric Adams, was paid $120,000 to push a Queens hotel into a migrant shelter contract. The contract grew from about $4 million to more than $14 million in public money. Prosecutors also say a loan document was later backdated by two years to hide the payments.
